University Counsel

Lillian Kae Yoo joined the Office of the General Counsel in December 2018.  Ms. Yoo provides legal support on a wide range of labor and employment matters for the university, including advice and counsel, pre-litigation, litigation, government and administrative investigations, and labor related disputes or issues involving all university employees.

Prior to joining USC’s Office of the General Counsel, Ms. Yoo was a senior associate with Burke, Williams & Sorensen LLP where she investigated, litigated, and provided practical counsel on a wide range of labor and employment disputes on behalf of private and public employers.  Prior to her representing management, Ms. Yoo was an associate in a boutique law firm that exclusively represented United Teachers of Los Angeles and individual union members from the California Teachers Association.

During law school, Ms. Yoo externed with the late Honorable Stephen Reinhardt of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and clerked at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.  She was also the recipient of the CALI award for the highest grade in her employment law course.

Ms. Yoo graduated with high honors from the University of Southern California in 2004 with a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and earned her J.D. from Pepperdine University School of Law in 2008.
