Healthcare Counsel, Keck Medicine of USC

Marissa K. Segal joined the Office of the General Counsel in March 2022. Ms. Segal provides legal support to the University’s health system, known as Keck Medicine of USC, including Keck Medical Center of USC, USC Verdugo Hills Hospital, and USC Care Medical Group, advising on healthcare issues.

Prior to joining USC, Ms. Segal was Hospital Operations Counsel for Prospect Medical Holdings, Inc. where she provided counsel on a variety of healthcare matters, including compliance and regulatory issues, contracting, and privacy issues. Ms. Segal began her healthcare legal career as a transactional healthcare associate at Fenton Law Group in Los Angeles where her clients included medical groups, healthcare startups, and other healthcare providers. In her prior positions, Ms. Segal advised an array of hospitals, physicians, and other providers on how to effectively comply with regulatory and licensure processes, as well as Stark and anti-kickback requirements. Ms. Segal is currently the treasurer and member of the Executive Committee of the Healthcare Law Section at the Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Ms. Segal graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication, and earned her J.D. from Loyola Law School.
