Associate General Counsel, Labor and Employment

Dawn Kennedy joined the Office of the General Counsel in April 2017. She serves as the lead attorney managing labor and employment matters for the university, including the university’s health system, Keck Medicine of USC.

Prior to coming to USC, Ms. Kennedy was the head of litigation, labor, and employment for American Apparel, one of the largest clothing manufacturers in North America. In this role, she managed litigation, provided employment advice and counsel, and represented the employer in all labor matters, including a large-scale organizing drive and unfair labor practice charges. Prior to moving into this in-house role, Ms. Kennedy was an associate with the Los Angeles office of Baker Hostetler LLP, where she practiced in the firm’s labor and employment department, representing large employers in a variety of industries, including healthcare, academia, manufacturing, and hospitality.

Ms. Kennedy graduated from the University of Notre Dame magna cum laude in 2001 and earned her J.D. from the USC Gould School of Law in 2007.
